Yin Yoga
A great way to wind down. In these sessions seated and lying postures are held for up to 6 minutes, deeply stretching the body and mind. The slower pace of Yin gives an opportunity to explore the meditative aspects of yoga, using techniques such as mindfulness. Yin is about finding stillness and softness, acceptance of our situation, becoming comfortable with our own body, softening and releasing. Slow Yin provides a counter-balance to our modern fast lives: we need both yin and yang to come into balance.
Monday 11:00-12:00, Tuesday 6:00-7:15pm, Friday 5:00-6:15pm are taught through OrangeYoga at the Crescent Bakery, Cheltenham. For booking go to the OrangeYoga Website. Drop in rates and class passes available.
Sunday 10:00-11:15 are online only, taught from my home! If you would like to join these sessions please email me and I'll send you through the link.
This session is pay what you can.
Flowing Yoga
Want to feel energised, focused and revitalised? This fun, friendly class will give you an energy boost. Over time you will improve your balance and coordination, strengthening your body and increasing resilience. Bodywork (asana) lengthens and tones muscles, shedding tension and opening the body and heart, leaving you refreshed. Breathwork (pranayama) and meditation bring you fully into the present moment, calming the nervous system, and restoring your body's natural ability to heal and nurture itself. You’ll feel centred and uplifted, able to appreciate and enjoy all that your life offers.
Saturday 9:30-10:45 at The Isbourne, 2 Wolseley Terrace, Cheltenham. £10 in person, £7.50 online; for booking go to The Isbourne website.
The Isbourne doesn’t provide any yoga equipment, so bring your own mat and any blocks or other props you might have.
Private tuition
I offer personal classes, one-to-one or to small numbers of people (2-3). There are many reasons why you might prefer smaller yoga classes; it can be a way to get used to the moves and build confidence before attending a larger class, or maybe there are specific injuries or asanas that you would like to address. They are a great way to explore the practice in a safe, non-competitive and non-judgemental way. You can choose the pace and level of private classes to suit you.
Depending on the circumstances we can meet at a hired space, such as OrangeYoga, or The Isbourne, or I can come to a place you provide. Please contact me to discuss the options.
'I have really enjoyed my one to one lessons with Ann. She has a very calm, patient demeanour and she listened carefully to my objectives and tailored my lessons to meet them exactly. Ann has a flexible approach to teaching, and is very much led by the needs of the individual. Highly recommended!'

It may be that I am not the right teacher for you, but as an active member
of the yoga community in Cheltenham, I may know someone who is!
I started doing yoga in 2003 with a rigorous Ashtanga practice, loving the physical challenge of this style. I immediately appreciated the fun non-competitive self-exploration that yoga encourages, often surprising myself with what was possible.
Since then, I've broadened my yoga into other styles, now loving everything from an invigorating Dynamic Vinyasa Flow and calmer Hatha Yoga to restful Yin Yoga. I've come to appreciate the impact yoga practice can have on our outlook, providing a much needed opportunity for relaxation and restoration in today's hectic world.
Seated meditation has become an important part of my practice; I regularly attend silent Buddhist meditation retreats. The benefits to my life from meditation are many, and so I include an element of this in my teaching.
I've been teaching since 2013; I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher diploma at Yogacampus in London, and my 300 hour advanced teacher training with OrangeYoga in Cheltenham. I've also taken specialised teacher training courses in Yin Yoga (to advanced level), Pranayama, Meditation and Anatomy.
I hope to meet you on your mat someday soon.
